happy halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone! Since Halloween is on an awkward Wednesday, there was much debate over the past few weeks on deciding which weekend to celebrate - the weekend before, after, or both? What about Wednesday night?

Well, being the wonderful college students we are, most of us decided to celebrate starting last weekend, up until this Saturday. YOCO (You Only College Once? Yeah....)

I was the black and silver Spider-man (Spider-girl?) on Friday and a mermaid on Saturday. (Check out my mermaid costume from last week's Friday's Fancies!) I'm debating on whether I have time to buy materials and create a loofah costume for tonight. I saw some other girls wearing a loofah costume, and it is SO cute! I'm obsessed. I might have to jump on the loofah bandwagon.

I also might revive my Twitter costume from sophomore year...now that people actually use Twitter and know what it is! I wore a blue dress, yellow tights, and wrote "follow me" and the Twitter logo on my arms with face paint.
I lost the feather boa though... :/

Here is some more HALLOWEEN, one of fall's favorite holidays!

a cozy study outfit

Close-up of the headband
Headband Nordstrom Sweater Aritzia (old) Tank Nordstrom-old (similar) Leggings lululemon Knee Socks J. Crew Boots Ralph Lauren/DSW

I wore this outfit to the library yesterday for a marathon study session. I was there for more than four hours and totally forgot to bring snacks or a lunch! I was so hungry afterward, haha. Since I knew I'd be doing homework for a while, I wanted to wear something that was cozy but still put-together. The leggings, baggy tank, and boyfriend sweater are all very comfortable, and the knee socks peeking out from the boots added warmth. I could've gone the UGG boot route, but instead I chose to wear my new fave leather riding boots. They're just as comfortable!

And I couldn't resist adding sparkle with my headband. ;)

printed jeans

I can't believe the week is almost over and I haven't posted since Sunday! I got hit with a cold again, right when I was finally feeling 100% from my last one. I am overworked and tired...midterms will be over soon...anyways, onto the subject of this post: printed jeans!

Printed jeans are a trend this season that are popping up more and more. Floral and intricate designs are especially popular, and I have a feeling we'll be seeing both colored and printed denim in full swing this spring.

To dip a toe in the trend....
printed jeans.

two-tone boots

Shirt: Madewell similar Belt: Nordstrom Pants: Forever 21 (old) similar color Bracelets: Forever 21 (old ) similar Boots: Ralph Lauren, DSW Watch: Michael Kors

Today marks the end of my last Fall Family Weekend. My parents came to visit and got to see me perform with dance team, and we got to go out to eat. I am wearing these olive pants - again! The color is so versatile. I also just got these two-tone boots. The top is dark brown and the rest is black. These will also become a versatile staple in my wardrobe.

friday's fancies - costume prep

This week's Friday's Fancies theme with long distance loving is Costume Prep. I've been looking for ideas on what to wear this Halloween, and decided that I want to be a mermaid! A high-low skirt is easy to find these days since they're so trendy, and mimics the mermaid tail well. A sequined bandeau, wedges, and sea-inspired accessories would make this outfit complete and perfect for Halloween!

organic cinnamon bread ... can I say, YUM?!

I have been a big fan of Dave's Killer Bread, an amazing organic bread company. The bread is made from organic ingredients and tastes good. Some breads have seeds around the crust - the perfect texture for toast and peanut butter (one of my usual meals).

Today I bought Dave's Killer Bread's SIN DAWG at the grocery store. It is a cinnamon bread roll made from all organic ingredients.
Healthy, USDA-certified organic cinnamon bread?! That actually tastes good?!
Yes. It is great. I love a good cinnamon roll, but if I have one, I usually only eat part of it - not to just save a few calories, but because I feel heavy afterward. I had a serving of the Sin Dawg for dessert before dance team practice. One gym workout and a 2 1/2 hour dance practice later, I still felt great. It didn't zap my energy or make me feel sluggish at all!
One serving = 200 calories, 5 grams of protein

Also, I've been replicating the omelets that the chef at the school cafeteria makes. They're really good, but since I'm a senior and don't have a meal plan anymore, I tried it out for myself! I use either one or two eggs, about 1/5 of a bell pepper, some chopped pieces of a tomato, and chopped pieces of half a slice of turkey bacon. I put a little bit of cheddar cheese and it tastes just like sophomore year. ;)
One serving = about 275 calories, 19 grams of protein

orange, green, and the parent trap

Nordstrom: Tank, belt, sweater vest (old), jeans Watch: Michael Kors Shoes: Target Nail polish: Essie

I'm wearing a LOT from Nordstrom today! Almost my whole outfit...what can I say, it's my favorite store. I never would've thought that this sweater vest would go with the rest of the outfit, but I liked it! And I love love love the color combo of bright orange and bright green.
----------
So not only is today 10/11/12, but it's also the birthday of Annie and Hallie from The Parent Trap!
"How old are you?" "I'll be twelve on October 11th." "Really?! So will I!"
The Parent Trap was my all-time favorite movie for years when I was little. I even remember seeing it in theaters in second grade. My best friend Jenn and I would "play the Annie and Hallie game" every time we'd go to each other's houses. I was Hallie and Jenn was Annie. We had so much fun.
