friday's fancies: work wear

I haven't had a chance to partake in Friday's Fancies with Long Distance Loving for a couple weeks, but am excited to be back this week! The theme is work wear. While I currently wear whatever for my current job, over the summer the dress code for my job in DC/NYC was business casual.

I am lusting over that bright pink Milly dress! Anything bright pink catches my eye. A watch is a necessary component to any work outfit, and this Kate Spade one is simple but still pretty.

photo diary: the french riviera [sep. 17-20]

Last weekend was spent in the beautiful French Riviera. We stayed in Nice and went to Monaco, Cannes, and Eze throughout the days to hang out at the beach and the Monte Carlo Casino. At night, we threw champagne parties and had a lot of fun. Everywhere you looked was absolutely gorgeous. My favorite beach was in Cannes - it was sandy and not rocky at all. The best beach! I had eggs for breakfast (you rarely see eggs at Italian restaurants) and macaroons. It was the perfect weekend.

I didn't want to leave.

LBD in monaco

H&M dress | Chanel sunglasses | custom sandals | Forever 21 bracelets | Kate Spade ring (similar) | Swank necklace (similar)

Last weekend we went to the French Riviera and explored Nice, Monaco, Cannes, and Eze. It was my favorite trip so far! I wore this outfit in Monaco and kept referencing Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl while we were there. If you watched GG seasons 5-6 with the Prince you know what I'm talking about ;)

I thought a classic LBD would be great for walking around Monaco and going to the Monte Carlo Casino. I didn't have heels with me so I wore my Capri sandals instead - though I think a pair of heels would have stepped the outfit up a notch.

Short post today, gotta run! I'll post photos from the absolutely gorgeous French Riviera soon.

custom sandals from capri

Two weekends ago when I was in the Amalfi Coast, I was lucky enough to snag a pair of custom made sandals from Capri! If you're headed to Amalfi, I highly recommend it. I've seen plenty of custom sandal shops in Capri as well as a few in Positano. You choose your strap color and the jewels you want on the strap as well as the strap design. Then they make it right in front of you!
My sandals, on the left :)
When I studied abroad two years ago, I went to Capri a week before I went back home. My budget only allowed for either a pair of custom sandals or a leather jacket - I chose the leather jacket last time, so this time around I made sure to go straight for the sandals! What I didn't know last time was that you can haggle the price. I got a 100+ euro pair for 75 euro. Better than nothing!

I know it's pretty much "fall," but since it's still warm, I'm getting as much use out of these sandals as I can get before I pack 'em away till spring. :)

photo diary: croatia [sep. 12-15]

I spent last weekend in beautiful Croatia with a truly awesome group of people. After a 12-hour bus ride, we went to the beach and did some white water rafting. The next day was an all-day island hopping boat tour which included the Blue Lagoon and Trogir. On our way back to Italy we stopped at the gorgeous Krka Waterfalls - so naturally beautiful and probably one of the most gorgeous places I've ever been. Add in my new nicknames Martha Slug and Rally Ally, a couple days without electricity in my apartment, a long island iced tea (or two), and being served grilled fish (including the head and fin...), it was definitely a weekend to remember.

photo diary: amalfi coast [sep. 5-8]

My first weekend guiding a trip was to the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy. Amalfi is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in Italy!
