Brands I Love: Nasty Gal [plus a shopping guide!]

One brand that has been on my radar for the past eight months or so is Nasty Gal. The online retail shop carries vintage pieces as well as clothing, shoes, and accessories from contemporary designers. The pieces are fun and definitely add flair to an outfit! I have a pair of floral shorts from Nasty Gal that I love. [See a post with these shorts here.]
According to the site's about page, founder Sophia Amoruso began a vintage eBay shop in 2006 called Nasty Gal Vintage. The shop was such a success that Amoruso started what we know now as NastyGal.com!

For even more Nasty Gal, check out the shopping guide I made below! These are a few of my favorite pieces that are currently up on the site. How awesome is that polka dot chambray button-up? So fun!

For more Nasty Gal, check out the blog and website. Happy shopping!

winter florals

Blazer: Nordstrom Tank: Madewell Shorts: Nasty Gal Boots: Corso Como Tights, bracelets: F21 Watch: Michael Kors Ring: Kate Spade

Floral shorts! Wearing shorts in the winter in a floral print make me feel a little rebellious. With just a couple of pieces to save your skin from the wind and cold, floral shorts can be incorporated into an appropriate winter outfit, and then flawlessly transition back into spring and summer.

Plus, these shorts have hidden pockets - who doesn't love those? It's a random but nice - and convenient - detail.

I think I'm going to take a nap now...I'm exhausted! I had a fantastic workout at the gym but I need to recuperate a little. Ah, I love the weekend.

Popular Prints for F/W '11-'12 - Shopping Guide & Inspiration, Part 3/3

Roxy S from Miami and New York [Lookbook]
Today we're wrapping up the Popular Prints series with Navajo! If you missed the first two shopping guides for Animal and Plaid, check 'em out!

This native-inspired print is definitely one of the defining trends for fall/winter 2011-2012. Stores are carrying many different pieces with the print and I am seeing it everywhere on campus. Take a look at the shopping guide below with inspiration from a few Lookbook ladies!
1. Street style photo from Lookbook of Natalie H from Sweden
2. Street style photo from Lookbook of Amy S from South Africa
3. Street syle photo from Lookbook of Alexandra P from Vigo
4. ModCloth "Manzano Mountains Scarf" - $17.99
5. Topshop "Cable Knit Tights" - $24.00
6. Nordstrom "Lily White Banded Skirt" - $22.00
7. Topshop "Knitted Macrame Vest" - $92.00
8. Forever 21 "Distressed Leatherette Boots" - $32.80
9. Forever 21 "Tribal Print Legging" - $12.80
10. Nasty Gal "Belizean Belle Tee" - $58.00
11. Forever 21 "Feather & Suedette Earrings" - $4.80
12. Forever 21 "Beaded Knuckle Ring" - $3.80
13. Forever 21 "Ethnic Print Cardigan" - $34.80

I have that skirt from Nordstrom (number 6)! It looks a little different in person than in the photo, but I still really like it. I also love the drapey cardigan from Forever 21 (number 12). It would be perfect to wear with other cozy pieces by the fireplace this winter.

outfit indecision - again

As per usual, I changed my outfit twice this morning. I took one photo, thought it looked a little awkward, and changed the outfit. I wasn't totally pleased with the look or how it looked on. That's the beauty of taking pictures of your outfits - you see what truly looks good and what doesn't!

Therefore, I changed into this outfit below! I wore the same shorts from the "in the garden" photos. This time I added a leather jacket (not photographed) and a pair of tights because it was a lot more chilly than the last time I wore the shorts.

Have a great Halloween!

in the garden

Blazer: Nordstrom Tank: James Perse Shorts: Nasty Gal Wedges: Tory Burch Watch: Michael Kors Black bracelets: Forever 21 Orange bracelet: Nordstrom Hat: American Eagle Earrings: Nordstrom Scarf: Escape Outdoors

Today Abbie, Morgan, and I went to a park with all these beautiful gardens. When we got there we found out that all the flowers are going to be cut down tomorrow, so we were very lucky to be there today! The flowers are so beautiful. After living here for almost three years, I never knew all these gardens existed. They're like hidden gems amongst the big city.

I just got these shorts in the mail! I've been wanting printed, flowy shorts for a while now, and figure these will be versatile in all seasons. They are also very appropriate as they match the flowers. I added wedges, a tank and blazer, and piled on the accessories. I thought the hat and scarf were a little too much so I took them off later. (Oh, and did anyone notice I finally took an outfit photo OUTSIDE?! ... this is a once in a rare opportunity! Haha).

More photos to come SOON! I'll edit them after I do some homework and post them tonight or tomorrow.
