farmer's market

Harding Lane hat | J. Crew t-shirt (similar) | Rock & Republic shorts | Sperry boat shoes | Michael Kors watch | Swank bracelets | Nordstrom earrings

I went to the Farmer's Market with my dad yesterday and picked up this lovely bouquet of flowers for only $5! We also got some local veggies and chocolate, so it was a win all around. This casual ensemble was a great, comfortable outfit to wear walking around outside. My happy shark hat - that's what I call it :) - also shaded my eyes so I didn't even need sunglasses.

I also saw We're The Millers, did some work for my new job, and a lot of relaxing these past two days. What did you do this weekend?

friday's fancies - summer ready!

This week's Friday's Fancies theme with Long Distance Loving is Summer Ready. While it's officially the first day of summer (woohoo!) but I've been incorporating summer staples into my wardrobe all spring! For this week's outfit I paired a lovely pink striped top I recently splurged on (it was the bow - I couldn't resist!) with yellow shorts and neutral accessories. It's so brights-on-brights and stripes-on-stripes.

floral statement necklaces

After seeing a photo of this beautiful necklace (on a recent tumblr saturday), I've been on the hunt for the perfect floral necklace for spring. Here are a few similar ones that I'm looking at:

The red Kate Spade necklace is gorgeous! It is the most similar to the one I've found yet to the one in that photo.
I like this one from Etsy too - there are multiple colored flowers.

I keep coming back to look at this one from J. Crew Factory! The colors compliment each other well and are pretty versatile, in my opinion.
I think this one from Ruche might be my favorite, and it's only $17! The only thing is that it is sold out. :/ Maybe they'll restock soon?

Which one is your favorite? Do you like floral statement necklaces?

garden nails

Yesterday I decided to do something completely new with my nails. While I've tried plenty of different colors ranging from pale pink to dark green, to greige, to neons, I've only done one single color. Sometimes I added glitter. :)

When I watched a Youtube video on how to get vintage rose nails, I had to try it!

My result:
My roses are a little messier than the ones in the video, but I think they still look good, considering it was my first time trying nail art!

Nail polish I used:

"Mermaid's Tears" by O.P.I., a jade green
"Sparrow Me the Drama" by O.P.I., a pale, dusty-looking pink
"Goldie" by Goldie, a shimmery red
(I got the red polish in a mini-spa-kit-thing several years ago from Bath & Body Works, so my guess is that it's unavailable now.)

Here's the video tutorial I watched if you're interested in trying it out for yourself!

flower headbands

Lately I've been really inspired by Taylor Swift's style, especially in the hair department.

I'm loving the hippie-esque (or 1920s flapper-esque) headbands that she wears. My favorite headband I've seen is this:
I think it is adorable! After browsing around online, the only similar flower headband I found that I really liked was this one from Nordstrom:
[Also -- there weren't too many options to choose from, anyways. My guess is that most of these flower headbands are very spring/summer and now they're selling more of the knitted headbands like the one I wore on Thursday.]

I love the Nordstrom headband, but it's $32. That isn't too bad, but when I realized I could make my own for much cheaper, I set out to the craft store. I bought a couple of fake flowers and just might try my first-ever DIY. I always see DIY posts on blogs that I want to try, but I never have any craft supplies. I always seem to get impatient with crafts too, so this might be interesting.

If my headband(s) look good I'll put up another post! If not...well...I'll consider buying a flower headband at that point.

outfit indecision - again

As per usual, I changed my outfit twice this morning. I took one photo, thought it looked a little awkward, and changed the outfit. I wasn't totally pleased with the look or how it looked on. That's the beauty of taking pictures of your outfits - you see what truly looks good and what doesn't!

Therefore, I changed into this outfit below! I wore the same shorts from the "in the garden" photos. This time I added a leather jacket (not photographed) and a pair of tights because it was a lot more chilly than the last time I wore the shorts.
Cardigan: Nordstrom Tank: James Perse Shorts: Nasty Gal Tights and bracelets: Forever 21 Watch: Michael Kors Shoes: Tory Burch

Have a great Halloween!

Here are more photos from the "in the garden" post from yesterday, as promised! Check out yesterday's post if you missed it and my Flickr for even more photos!

Have a happy Tuesday!

in the garden

Blazer: Nordstrom Tank: James Perse Shorts: Nasty Gal Wedges: Tory Burch Watch: Michael Kors Black bracelets: Forever 21 Orange bracelet: Nordstrom Hat: American Eagle Earrings: Nordstrom Scarf: Escape Outdoors

Today Abbie, Morgan, and I went to a park with all these beautiful gardens. When we got there we found out that all the flowers are going to be cut down tomorrow, so we were very lucky to be there today! The flowers are so beautiful. After living here for almost three years, I never knew all these gardens existed. They're like hidden gems amongst the big city.

I just got these shorts in the mail! I've been wanting printed, flowy shorts for a while now, and figure these will be versatile in all seasons. They are also very appropriate as they match the flowers. I added wedges, a tank and blazer, and piled on the accessories. I thought the hat and scarf were a little too much so I took them off later. (Oh, and did anyone notice I finally took an outfit photo OUTSIDE?! ... this is a once in a rare opportunity! Haha).

More photos to come SOON! I'll edit them after I do some homework and post them tonight or tomorrow.
