statement necklaces

Statement necklaces have been on the fashion radar for a few seasons now and I think it's safe to say the trend is still going strong. Whether it is a collar necklace or the popular bubble necklace, necklaces of all colors, materials, shapes, and sizes are everywhere. My current favorites are below - click on the image for the link!

Pearl twisted hammock necklace
I've been on the fence about getting a bubble necklace, but love the purple Bauble Bar one above. However, a chunky pearl necklace like the J. Crew one would go well with my outfits..... decisions, decisions! Which one is your fave??

2012 faves: posts

I cannot believe 2012 is almost over. Throughout the year, I've always been like, "I can't believe it's already May!" or "I can't believe it's already October!" Now it is literally just days into the new year and I've been looking back through my posts from 2012. A separate post is coming soon on my favorite outfit posts, but here is a list of my favorite non-outfit posts from 2012!

3 great street style looks from Lookbook

Lookbook is a great site to browse for cool, fashion-foward street style inspiration as well as amazing photography. Here are a few of my favorite looks I found today!
The jacket makes the simple black outfit so interesting! The pup is cute, too.

A great way to wear colored denim. The shoes are so unique!

That zebra bag is amazing! I really like that shade of orange with the electric blue on the bag.

nail art for fall 2012

I was perusing Fashionista today and saw their post about the nail art on the fall 2012 runways. They mentioned that the nail art trend may begin to dwindle by then, and that most of the nail polish colors were variations of nude.

Since nail art is so big right now, however, I thought I'd share two of my favorite looks! I think both of these looks can be used any time of the year.
The two-toned color is so interesting. The red draws the eye to the blue detailing. This is so unique! Love.
This was my other favorite look. It may be hard to tell in the photo, but the tips are a metallic gold. It's a twist on the French manicure; more elegant than the neon tips I've seen lately. This would match just about everything!

When fall gets here, I guess we'll see what happens to the nail art trend. For now, though, bring on spring fashion!

Fashion in "The Help"

I finally saw The Help last night! After hearing rave reviews and the promise of both laughter and tears, I knew it would be a great movie. And a great movie it was. The storyline and acting were incredible, but one of my favorite parts of the movie was the wardrobe. I loved the old-fashioned dresses, heels, hats, and jewelry of the time.
Loved that green and pink dress. Everything is just so proper.
Minny's HAT! Could I get away with wearing a hat like that? Preferrably in pastel pink or green? ...maybe?
Emma Stone is so sophisticated with pearls and a lovely dress.
Photos courtesy of the movie website.

Another thing I loved about the movie was the fantastic scenery! It makes me miss the south and want to go back and visit. The beautiful front yards with the big trees and flowers in front of the mansions was very visually pleasing. I couldn't find any photos online of the scenery, so I guess you'll just have to go see for yourself!

Polka Dots for F/W 2011

**I started this post in JULY and never posted it! So I thought I might as well put it up on the blog.

It's that time of year again! Stores are starting to stock new garments for next season to mark the beginning of new cold weather wear. This is bittersweet to me, as I get super excited for all the new trends and pieces, yet know that mid-October I'll be longing for sunny, hot days at the lake wearing nothing but shorts and a tank. And I'll long for summer clothes all winter long during the -12 degree weather. Yes, Spokane gets that cold.

Before I talk myself out of writing this post on fall fashion I'll share a few of my favorite looks from the spotty trend.

POLKA DOTS
My favorite pair of tights (sheer with black polka dots) ripped when I was in Ireland! Though I'm sure I'll be able to find a replacement pair after Glamour magazine, Marc Jacobs, and Stella McCartney pretty much solidifed that polka dots will be a big trend this fall.
Blake Lively for Glamour
Stella McCartney
Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs
Other trends I'm excited for are the 90s revival, 70s hippie lovin', leather everywhere, and lace-up ankle boots.

**It is mid-October now, and like I said above, I do miss the days at the lake wearing shorts and tanks! But the summer did last pretty long this year, so I can't really complain (until winter, haha). I am happy that I get to wear my new fall clothes and shoes, and am still looking for a new replacement pair of sheer polka dot tights! :)

The Saturdays

Everyone loves Saturdays...sleeping in, relaxing, doing random things you need to do, going out at night...but there is one more good thing about Saturdays.

Or shall I say, The Saturdays. As in the British female pop band that's gaining more and more popularity by the second.
I started this post back in July to write for later, the only notes being "fashion in the music video 'Higher.'" Since then, I've seen numerous street style posts on blogs showcasing their sense of fashion without having a glam squad choosing their outfits and doing their hair and makeup. Which makes me wonder if they did a little styling themselves in their music video?

Either way, I like the fashion in the video for "Higher." The song is pretty catchy, too. You can check it out for yourself here.

My favorite outfit is Mollie's (the black and white outfit with the fedora). What is your favorite?

Also, how adorable is Una's headband?! And the gorgeous, green eyeshadow?
This is a street style photo of two of the girls shopping in LA. Love the shoes, girls.
