insta-lately...

It's already December! Wow! I can't believe 2013 is almost over and a new year is on its way. My favorite thing about December is getting in the Christmas spirit (see my Christmas 2013 playlist here). Traveling around Europe these past couple weeks and seeing the festive decorations in all these beautiful cities makes me even more excited for my favorite winter holiday. Here are a few of my favorite recent Instagram uploads filled with winter happiness! (Can you believe my summer-loving self just used the term "winter happiness?" Me neither. I guess when Christmas is involved, winter can be happy. Haha.)
Prague is beautiful at night! And the Christmas markets make the city even more charming.
A recent OOTD from Budapest and my new favorite hat and scarf combo! Loving emerald green and how it goes with pretty much anything. I know I haven't been doing many outfit posts lately but it's hard to find a good time to take the photos when we're out and about working!
Walking along the river in Interlaken, Switzerland. No filter on this one! The river is so serene and the beginning of winter meant snow on the top half of the mountains and colored leaves on the trees on the bottom half.
The John Lennon wall in Prague! Not Christmas-y, but I thought it was cool to see the colorful wall in the middle of a city that has pastel colored buildings and traditional architecture.
I had some time to kill one day before heading into a meeting, so instead of going home and going all the way back out, I sat on a bench in Piazza Republica in Florence while I waited. I started reading The Alchemist for the fourth time. I highly recommend this book if you haven't already read it. It's incredibly inspiring and I always pull it back out if I need some direction in life or just a nice pick-me-up.

summer reading

Reading is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. I love reading outside in the sun, and having more free time allows me to read books I enjoy rather than textbooks for class. I am currently in a C.S. Lewis philosophy summer class, where we read a bunch of his work. There are 15 books total in six weeks...so about two books a week (plus additional online readings). It's a lot, but so far I enjoy his books!
I just finished Surprised By Joy. Next up is The Screwtape Letters and the Chronicles of Narnia. Considering I read one of the Narnia books in 4th grade, it hopefully won't take up too much summer time!
After my class is over, I will wind down with The Fame Game, the perfect, light summer read. I read Lauren Conrad's L.A. Candy series a while ago and loved it, so I'm excited for the spinoff.
I've heard The Kite Runner is wonderful, and even though I'm a little late to hop on the bandwagon, I'd like to read it.
I'd like to re-read The Alchemist. I read this for class twice in high school and it was very inspiring. It's a good one to re-read because it instills a new motivation.

What books are you reading this summer?? Any suggestions?

Happy 74th Annual Hunger Games! May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor

Yes, I know I completely nerd-ed out on the post title.

I'm going to see the midnight premiere tonight. I can't wait.

I had known that The Hunger Games series had been popular for a while, so I bought the book back in November. I didn't end up reading it until February though, but now I am totally addicted! I am currently on the third and last installment of the series. I don't want to read the last one too quickly because I don't want it to end!

My enthusiasm/excitement/obsession with this series makes me feel like a 14-year-old. At least I'm not dressing up or anything tonight. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)

The movie has supposedly been projected to make between $125-$150 million this weekend, which is a lot, especially considering this is not a holiday weekend.

If you're trying to kill time between now and midnight, there is this fun website where you can find out your "hunger name." Mine is Cup Ragbone.

Anyways. Just devoted a whole blog post to contribute to the current craze.

Who else is going to see the movie this weekend? Are you team Peeta or Gale? I'm team Peeta. ;)
