colorful skirt and chambray shirt

Nordstrom sunglasses | Lilly Pulitzer skirt | American Eagle shirt (similar) | GUESS wedges (similar) | Michael Kors watch | Max & Chloe necklace

It has been sunny these past few days (so happy) so of course I had to break out the spring clothes! I have a feeling this might not last, so I've been making sure to lay out and get a little color before it starts raining again. I'm pretty sure I got a little sunburnt today :/ we'll see in the morning, haha. I chose to wear this colorful skirt with a chambray button-up and wedges. I love the hidden pockets in this skirt!

Hope you're having a wonderful day!

bright, electric stripes

Dress Red Dress Boutique - sold out, but I'm loving this one too Belt Nordstrom Shoes GUESS (similar) Necklace Max & Chloe Sunglasses Chanel (similar)

You can't really see the earrings in the photo above so I added this photo below - I've worn these earrings almost every day since I got them! Finding a Bendels in Las Vegas was wonderful :) [Get the earrings here!]
Jenn and I got our nails done and then went to lunch before saying goodbye! It was a great spring break and always fun to see the bestie.

bumblebee

Dress Vivid Collection (totally loving this similar one!!) Jacket from a market in Italy (here's a cool, trendy take on a leather hoodie with color blocking) Tights F21 Wedges Tory Burch (similar) Bag Tory Burch (similar) Ring Henri Bendel Nail Polish Essie "Playa del Platinum"

Unlike yesterday, I woke up to a gray sky and drizzling rain. It felt like Seattle...ick. Instead of wearing the black peacoat I intended to wear, I threw on my black leather hoodie from Italy! I realized I haven't worn it in a while since it has been so cold. The leather material is soft and as smooth as butter. Also the material makes the outfit look a little more dressed up than a cotton or velour hoodie would. It's nice to pull it back out of my closet!

As you can tell, I am wearing mostly black with a huge pop of yellow in my dress. I love wearing bright colors in the winter! I played up the black in the rest of the outfit, and bounced off the yellow with gold accessories like my bow ring and the chain strap on my Tory Burch bag. Beige nail polish added a subtle, yet clean touch.

Happy Thursday - almost the weekend!

PS - to the girls that commented asking for a hot rollers hair tutorial - I am definitely considering it! I would need to practice the style more, however.....we'll see. I'll keep you updated if I do one. :)

friday's fancies - costume prep

This week's Friday's Fancies theme with long distance loving is Costume Prep. I've been looking for ideas on what to wear this Halloween, and decided that I want to be a mermaid! A high-low skirt is easy to find these days since they're so trendy, and mimics the mermaid tail well. A sequined bandeau, wedges, and sea-inspired accessories would make this outfit complete and perfect for Halloween!

jack rogers wedges & paige denim shorts

I have been looking for a netural-colored, not-super-tall pair of wedges for months now. After searching quite a few places, I think I have finally found a perfect match:

The height is only 3 inches which makes this pair very versatile! It's a nice way to add a little height with shorts and skirts without being too over the top. And the shade of brown would go with everything. I am super bummed that I missed Jack Rogers sale on Rue La La last night, though!!! I could've gotten a pair! I woke up this morning a half-hour after the sale ended. Sigh.

These 7 For All Mankind wedges are close contenders, but they're more expensive and I think the 4.5 inch heel would be too tall for most pairs of shorts. I think they'd go well with dresses and jeans, though.

Speaking of shorts, I am also in the market for new denim shorts, and these Paige Denim boyfriend shorts would be perfect! I think the slightly baggy fit would balance out a girly top. The dark wash is also classic and will stay in style for years - would be a good investment!

On another note, I spotted this fantastic, powder blue nail polish from M.A.C. at Nordstrom.com. I've been looking for this unique shade of blue. My next trip to Nordstrom WILL include this polish!

Especially with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale coming up this Friday, I think a summer shopping spree might be in order soon. :)

Jeffrey Campbell Shoes

Jeffrey Campbell shoes are so cool. His designs are so creative and the shoes are completely eye-catching. The famous "Lita" bootie has been the "it" shoe recently, being seen all over street style, blogs, and celebs. Here are some more shoes. While these aren't my usual taste, they are works of art:
"Rock Me" Sandal, $175 at Nordstrom
Burst Platform Wedge, $188 at Nasty Gal

"Hare 2 Mod" Platform Sandal, $185 at Nordstrom
The Lita Bootie in red/pink flower print, $160 at Nordstrom
...and the Lita Bootie in black, the one that started this craze! $162 at Nasty Gal

downtown

Shirt: Nordstrom Jeans: GJG Denim Shoes: Steve Madden Bag, belt: American Eagle Watch: Michael Kors

I'm wearing these jeans AGAIN! Even though they are pink, the color is so versatile and I am able to put together many different outfits with this pair. I played off the pink color with the beads on my shoes, and wore the striped shirt to add a pattern. I tucked the shirt in in just the front to show the belt, and finished the look off with more neutral accessories.

chaps for breakfast

Dress: Nordstrom Bracelets: F21 Wedges: Tory Burch Watch: Michael Kors

Darn the sun for going down before 4pm. I blame winter, not my decision of taking an outfit photo later in the day. The last couple of outfit pics don't have the best lighting. I've been so busy with finals that I hardly have any time to take photos of my outfits! Finals...blahh.

This morning a few friends and I went to Chaps, a restaurant in Spokane that a friend of mine works at. Since she is studying abroad next semester, today was her last day so we went there to visit her at work and have breakfast. And get free candy canes. It was a great start to a Saturday morning.

tying things together

Green shirt: Splendid Yellow shirt: BCBG Black skinny cords: J. Brand Bracelets: (one) from a market and (others) from Forever 21 Wedges: Tory Burch

Today I tried tying my button-up like the ways I saw all over the place this past summer. I've always wanted to try it, but with fall weather a knotted breezy tee and denim cutoffs probably wouldn't suffice in the rain. Therefore, I switched it up and went with a flannel shirt worn with cozy corduroys.

Midterms are this week and I've been very busy! There is a lot of procrastinating studying going on right now. My typical study routine is to focus for a while, take a quick break to read some blogs, then go back to studying. Whatever works, right?

My very first outfit post!

I'm excited to finally try out the whole outfit post thing. I'm hoping that I will be able to improve my personal style over time - what better way to do that than taking photos? (Kind of like Cher's polaroids on Clueless, haha). Maybe it'll be an everyday thing, maybe it won't. We'll see where it goes from here.

Anyways, after my post yesterday about seventies fashion, I had to try it out for myself. I added a little crochet and bohemian-esque accessories with seed bead wedges to add a touch of the trend to my outfit.

Crochet crop top: Nordstrom Brown tank: J. Crew Orange shorts: M2F Brand Denim Wedges: Dillard's Earrings: Nordstrom Bracelet: Nordstrom

Let me know what you think!
