chevron dresses

Chevron stripes are a huge trend right now, and I've subtly worn the pattern with my colored chevron bangles. With spring on the mind, however, I have dresses on my shopping list. These bold, chevron striped dresses are perfect.

new juicy bag!

Bag: Juicy Couture Tank: James Perse Skirt: F21 Bracelets: Nordstrom Flats: Tory Burch

I got this wonderful new Juicy bag that I've been admiring for a while now...on sale! (You may remember seeing it here.) It was $98 (50% off) at Nordstrom this weekend. There were only two left - one in pink, one in navy - of course I chose the pink!

I love the wave print, but especially the square jewel charms!

I also got two sets of these chevron bangles. I like having both warm colors and light colors so I can mix and match.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

crazy busy // mixing prints

Jacket: Vivid Collection Striped shirt and tank: Nordstrom Jeans: F21 Sneakers: American Eagle Butterfly ring and charm bracelets: Juicy Couture

This week is insanity with schoolwork, work, and dance team! I enjoy being busy, but still. I have a lot on my plate this week. Dance team practices are picking up as we prepare for games (AND performing at the one in Canada this weekend!) Also, this week is just busy with school - it is that typical point in fall semester where group projects, exams, and papers pile up to be done in time for finals. This is why I haven't posted in a couple of days -- I've been so busy that I've hardly been home!

That being said, I'm going to go work on a group project now. I'm staying pretty casual in ultra-comfy sneakers, jeans, and a tshirt with a cotton jacket. I mixed the polka dots on the shoes with the stripes on the shirt to make things a little more interesting and added a splash of gold jewelry for fun.

what is this thing? a knitted headband?

Tunic: Macy's Jeans: Forever 21 Boots: Corso Como Bracelets: Nordstrom Watch: Michael Kors Knitted Headband: Anthropologie

I'm not sure what to call this thing on my head. A headband? A knitted headband? A kind-of-hat? Whatever you call it, it is one of my go-to cold weather accessories. It is a winter take on the hippie headband, and provides a lot of extra warmth as the temperatures drop. Speaking of, it was supposed to snow last night but it didn't! I'm glad. I'm not ready for the snow yet.

I'm also a fan of stripes. I love bright colors, especially in the winter. Cold weather accessories make a bright sweater feel more "appropriate" (though I think bright colors are acceptable all year round) and adds a little dose of happiness on a cloudy day, in my opinion.

The new Trader Joe's just opened in Spokane last weekend. I went on the opening day and it was madness. Complete madness. The lines reached the back of the store and I waited to check out for 45 minutes. I went back today and some items were completely sold out! Including my favorite peanut butter-filled, chocolate covered pretzels...but that's okay. Now that Halloween's over, I'm going to stock up on plenty of half-priced chocolate and peanut butter candy from the other grocery store. Reese's pumpkins? Yes, please!

a dash of stripes

Sweater: Anthropologie Tank: James Perse Pants: Forever 21 Flats: Tory Burch Watch: Michael Kors Bracelets: Forever 21

After taking those gorgeous photos in the garden over the weekend, I was not too excited to take an outfit photo inside. Yet I didn't have much time, so I snapped two photos, edited them, and headed out the door. I am definitely not a fan of the lighting in my room...at least I have Photoshop! ;) (I'm still trying to decide if the indoor photos are better edited or not...)

I really like this sweater. The different colors and the stripe layer-thing add more dimension to what would otherwise be a typical cardigan. The bottom around the back has ruffle trim too, which adds a nice little detail. I wore it with a simple black tank and flats and olive green skinny pants. It is a very comfortable outfit and was perfect for class on this semi-warm fall day.

in a good mood today

Jacket, Shirt, Tank: Nordstrom Skinnies: Forever 21 Shoes: New Look (London) Ring: Juicy Couture Watch: Michael Kors Scarf: Subdued Firenze

I'm in a great mood today! I was starting to get run down/sick/achy/stressed because of midterms, but then I realized I need to get rid of all those icky things. So I ate super healthy and had vitamins to get rid of my sore throat, got (some) sleep, and focused on getting stuff done. I woke up not feeling 100%, but a lot better than yesterday. It was sunny today too, and waking up to blue sky always makes you feel better.

I went to lunch again with my friend Abbie today, (every Thursday we go somewhere for lunch!) and tried this new cafe and got an enchilada. We sat outside because it was nice out and surprisingly warm. I had a quick break and now it's back to class and finishing things up before the weekend!

Who doesn't love shopping?

After weeks of randomly lusting after clothes online, putting them in my shopping cart, but deciding not to actually buy anything, I decided to finally go to the nearby mall to get a couple things. It was a good way of celebrating finishing my first two exams of the year. I went to American Eagle first, then decided after spending all that money that I just needed to go home and hold off on shopping for a while.

I was really excited because after getting bored with American Eagle and not shopping there for the past couple of years, they seem to have gotten a style makeover and added a lot more urban-esque, bohemian, trendy pieces. This is what I got:
Patterned sneakers on sale for $14.99. I think they will be adorable with rolled up boyfriend jeans and a chunky knit sweater.
A wonderfully hippie-looking fringe bag for $39.50. I've been needing a brown bag for a while and finally found one that I really liked. I wore it Friday night!
The chevron stripes on the socks look like the ones seen all over the Missoni for Target collection. I got them for $6.50 and am going to see how they look with ankle booties.

I also couldn't decide on whether or not I wanted to get this black, floppy, boho hat, because I already spent quite the chunk of change. So I "justified" it by going back the next morning to get it...hey, I had to go to get my phone fixed at the mall anyway, and the hat was right there. They don't have a photo of the hat anymore on the website but it'll probably be featured soon in an outfit post!

Have you gone shopping recently? What did you get?
