friday's fancies - halloween style

This week's Friday's Fancies theme with Long Distance Loving is all about Halloween! Last year, I was a mermaid for Halloween and wore a similar outfit to my creation below. Since I brought the same costume to Italy with me (not getting creative this year by making a new one...) I wanted to repost my FF from last year! A mermaid costume was super simple to find pieces for.

I lucked out when I went to a boutique in Spokane and found a bandeau and green high-low skirt in late October. I would've loved to wear a sparkly one like I originally envisioned, but bright blue works too! My friend went as Posh Spice.
I wore brown wedges with colorful beads to complete the look. Since I didn't bring those shoes with me, I'll just wear my starfish Capri sandals instead. :)

What are you dressing up as this Halloween? Do you buy a pre-made costume, put pieces together to make one like I did, or craft your own?

happy halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone! Since Halloween is on an awkward Wednesday, there was much debate over the past few weeks on deciding which weekend to celebrate - the weekend before, after, or both? What about Wednesday night?

Well, being the wonderful college students we are, most of us decided to celebrate starting last weekend, up until this Saturday. YOCO (You Only College Once? Yeah....)

I was the black and silver Spider-man (Spider-girl?) on Friday and a mermaid on Saturday. (Check out my mermaid costume from last week's Friday's Fancies!) I'm debating on whether I have time to buy materials and create a loofah costume for tonight. I saw some other girls wearing a loofah costume, and it is SO cute! I'm obsessed. I might have to jump on the loofah bandwagon.

I also might revive my Twitter costume from sophomore year...now that people actually use Twitter and know what it is! I wore a blue dress, yellow tights, and wrote "follow me" and the Twitter logo on my arms with face paint.
I lost the feather boa though... :/

Here is some more HALLOWEEN, one of fall's favorite holidays!

PS - what did you dress up as (or planning to dress up as) this year?

typical thursday

Cardigan: Macy's Tank: Nordstrom Necklace, Bracelets, Jeans: F21 Watch: Michael Kors Boots: Chinese Laundry

Despite what it looks like in the photo, this was actually a good hair day! Haha. As per usual, I only had a minute or two to snap a photo of my outfit today. I stuck with these boots two days in a row and stayed pretty casual. Then I added this necklace to mirror the colors in the tank. I also wore an ivory coat with big buttons over it when I went outside. Can't believe it's coat season already! It just got COLD in Spokane, folks.

Today marks the beginning of Halloweekend! This year I have costumes for Minnie Mouse and Spider-Girl. I haven't figured out my other costumes yet, but I might reuse my Twitter Bird ensemble from last year. I'm not totally sure yet. With Halloween on a Monday, it seems like people are going to celebrate properly 5 nights in a row. I'll see what I end up doing.

Does anyone else feel like college kids celebrate Halloween way more than actual kids?! (Not that I'm complaining!)

blazer, yellow, gold

Blazer and tanks: Nordstrom Necklace: Forever 21 Shorts: Rock & Republic Bracelets: Forever 21 Watch: Michael Kors Shoes: Sperry

I bought most of my outfit about a month ago, but was saving it for fall-transition-season. I like how the gold in the accessories and shoes brings out the yellow tank and how the blazer makes me look a little more put-together for class. And, yes, I took this photo in my apartment...again. Haha.

I have multiple things on both my regular to-do list and my homework to-do list, but I can't stop thinking about some life goals I have and what I want to be for Halloween. Yeah, the two are very different and not really related...but even though Halloween is over a month away I still have to find the perfect costumes! (Oh, the worries of being a college student...)
