nyc

Subdued shirt (from Florence, Italy) | J. Crew shorts | Sperry shoes | Nordstrom chevron bangle | Michael Kors watch | Longchamp bag | Swank necklace

I'm currently back in New York for a few days! I took these photos after seeing a show.
This outfit was:
Comfortable: the shorts and Sperrys made walking around the city all day bearable.
Functional: the watch keeps me on time, while my Longchamp fits my clip board and all other materials needed for work.
And then I added some accessories to make the ensemble more interesting!

electric green chinos & orange stripes

Nordstrom tank (similar) | J. Crew shorts (new colors) | Nordstrom belt (similar) | Kate Spade bag (similar here, and this one has a metal bow!) | Michael Kors watch | Forever 21 bracelets | Nordstrom sweater | Ray-Ban sunglasses | Sperry boat shoes (this exact pair happens to be on sale!)

It's so sunny today! I got to take my bright green chino shorts out of the drawers for the first time in a long time. The warm weather makes me want to do anything but be inside, but unfortunately I have a final to study for this afternoon. Maybe I'll study outside on the grass :) it's crazy to think that tomorrow I have my last actual class as a college student! And only two more finals and my thesis paper. So, so, so weird letting that sink in.

I also love the color combo today. Orange and green have been a favorite color of mine since I saw Blair wearing the orange-green outfit on Gossip Girl (beginning-ish of season 1, where Blair and Nate break up, I can't find a photo of that outfit online). I like to put the colors together if I get a chance!

current shopping list: mint colored everything!

Yes, I know it's still January. Spring is around the corner! (In a couple months, give or take?) When stores begin to stock spring attire, my mind flashes forward to the days where I don't have to wear a coat or scrape the ice off my car in the morning. Ah, pure bliss.

I'm loving how both brights and pastels are huge this spring. I'm currently crushing on everything mint colored. It's subtle but can still be just as girly as a ballet pink.

Even though it snowed today (and yesterday, and the day before that) I can't help but get excited for the upcoming season! I already purchased white jeans recently, and here are a few spring mint pieces I'm lusting over.
Mint chino shorts. Love.

A mint hair bow!

Mint skinnies. The colored denim trend is stronger than ever and these jeans would be perfect for a cool, spring break evening!

Along with the colored denim trend, we're seeing bright colored exercise leggings in every hue imaginable. I already have avatar-blue leggings from lululemon, but these mint wunder under leggings are so adorable!

A smidge brighter than mint, but still a soft green nonetheless, this girly dress is calling my name.
Okay, okay, I'm stretching the dresses in this post a little too far with color, but this dress is great for spring too!

Let's bring it back to actual mint now. This plain tee is just asking for a statement necklace!

What's on your spring shopping list? Are you going to add mint and other pastel colors to your spring wardrobe?

hues of blue, and a bow

Shirt: American Eagle Tank, belt: Nordstrom Shorts: J. Crew Sandals: Tory Burch Watch: Michael Kors Sunglasses: Chanel

Happy Thursday-almost-weekend-day!

Short post because I am about to leave to start horseback riding classes. I'm so excited :) I haven't taken riding lessons since I was 7 years old so this will be interesting. And (I hope) fun!

bright green chino shorts

Shorts: J. Crew Tank: Nordstrom Belt, bracelet: Forever 21 (similar bracelet) Shoes: New Look London (similar)Ring: Kate Spade Sunglasses: Chanel

I got these bright green chino shorts from J. Crew last weekend and I love them! They definitely take center stage, so I kept my top and shoes neutral. But I didn't want to shy too much from color, so I added a matching green bangle with a belt and ring to complete the look.

I know fall fashion is everywhere, but summer is still going strong! I'm going to soak up summer as long as I can. And that means wearing bright-colored shorts. :)

wear now, wear later: animal print loafers

One of the best ways to get the most out of your wardrobe is to have some items that will carry you through multiple seasons. With summer sandals and fall boots, sometimes it can be difficult to wear shoes that can be worn in both times of the year. Flats are an exception - they work year-round! With loafers emerging as an upcoming trend, I put together two outfits with Betsey Johnson zebra-printed loafers.

Summer:
I love the colors in this outfit! The wild, black and white print on the shoes allows for some playfulness in the rest of the outfit. I chose bright pink chino shorts and colorful jewelry with a printed bag to accompany the plain shirt and shorts.

F21 shirt, J. Crew shorts, Wet Seal sunglasses, Betsey Johnson earrings, Kate Spade ring, Kate Spade bag, Betsey Johnson shoes (link below).

Fall:
Take a cue from the turning leaves and put oranges and deep reds into the mix! Since the loafers are printed, I decided to play around with color and texture in the rest of the outfit. The leather skirt plays up the edge from the animal print, but the collar necklace and knit beret soften the look. Add some over-the-knee socks and a fashion-forward watch, and the outfit is complete!

J. Crew sweater, Nordstrom necklace, Topshop skirt, F21 socks, H&M hat, Kiel James Patrick bracelet, Michael Kors Watch, Betsey Johnson shoes (link below).

The shoes:

Which look do you like better? How do you stretch items from your wardrobe through different seasons?
