sunny sweetheart's 2 year anniversary!

I cannot believe that today marks the 2-year anniversary of Sunny Sweetheart! I started this blog during spring break of my sophomore year of college. It took at least six months for me to begin posting regularly. It's crazy to look back at old posts and see all the changes: how my "voice" has changed, how my writing has improved, how my style has changed.

Even the 1-year anniversary of Sunny Sweetheart blew my mind away. I missed the 1-year anniversary last year by a few days, haha.... This is my very first post, from March 6, 2011. 

Looking back on my original goals....

1. Post once a day
I have a total of 484 published posts, 66 from 2013 alone (one per day this year!) Even though I do get busy, I always try to find time to blog, even if it's a short post. Unlike some of my other commitments (like going to class) blogging is something that I do just for me. There is no one telling me I have to do it. But I love to do it anyways.

2. Outfit Posts
I accomplished my original outfit post goal in 2012 by putting photos of my outfits on the blog. My 2013 goal with outfit posts was to begin incorporating .GIF outfit posts! (Check). I also set on improving my photography last year in class. I'm definitely still working on my photos and photo editing, but I know a lot more about my DSLR than I used to.

Future goals....we'll just have to  wait and see! I've learned that patience is key. I do my best to post at least once a day to keep the content fresh in addition to practicing my writing skills. There are so many things I want to add to this blog and I have a vision of where I want to take it. However, I need to remember that these positive changes happen slowly and that I can't do it all at once! I'm still a full-time student involved in so many activities outside of school, which need to come first. (Even though sometimes all I want to do is blog!)

For now....
I just started up a profile on Pose! I'm still getting used to the site, but I'd love it if you followed :)

Sunny Sweetheart's 1-year Anniversary!

March 6th marked the 1-year anniversary of my blog!

I missed it by a few days. How did I forget?! Really, Ally? I cannot believe it has already been a year since I began this blog. Time flies so fast.

I originally began blogging because I was so inspired by the blogs I read already. A majority of the blogs I read are fashion-related, and I was just itching to start my own. Two vauge-ish goals I had when starting Sunny Sweetheart were: (1) post at least once a day and (2) do outfit posts.

One of my first layout designs! I like my current design much better.

It took a while to get into the swing of things and find my writing style for the first few weeks. I think most personal bloggers go through that beginning phase of finding their own unique style.

After many sporadic posts - I only wrote once in August - I started posting more regular outfit photos in September 2011. While I didn't post every day for a while, I posted much more often than before. Blogging became an exciting few minutes of my day where I could unwind and focus my thoughts. In February of this year, I decided I wanted to do 29 posts - one for each day of the month! I made a little goal to get through one post a day for the month, and am so happy I did! I really enjoy posting daily and want to keep it up!

I did two outfit posts over the summer, but this is from my first semi-regular one:

I can't believe how much my blog has evolved in its first year. It is crazy to see how my writing changes and improves, and looking back and seeing what I was up to on a certain day. I did a 2011 reflection post and a favorites post at the end of the year, and even in these past few months, it has still evolved a little! Oh, and I have some new ideas and goals up my sleeve, by the way. So stay tuned. ;)
