sleeeeep

I felt more tired today than usual. While I didn't get a full eight hours last night, I got a solid 6 1/2 (which isn't bad, considering the pile of homework I had). Then, after class, I took a two hour nap. TWO hours! I take naps probably about once a week (or more depending on the week), but rarely sleep for that long. Oftentimes I'll have something to do or will set an alarm so that I make myself get up and be productive.

Part of me was thinking that I should have set an alarm today so that I could be more productive. But also, part of me realized that I still would have been tired, and maybe not as productive. (Or even cranky! No thanks.)

Getting sleep is so important, and I think I forget that sometimes and put it on the back burner when I get busy. I think, oh, I'll just grab coffee later or go to the gym to boost my energy. But in the end, your body needs sleep. This is something I know in the back of my mind, but need to remind myself now and again. I even wrote a more extensive blog post on the subject last year! It explains a few of the many benefits of sleep and why you need sleep. Let me know if you find it helpful :)

On that note, goodnight! I'm going to bed zzZZZZzzzZZZzzzZZ

friday's fancies - project polka dot

This week's Friday's Fancies theme with long distance loving is Project Polka Dot. I love the black and white polka dot sweater so I built an outfit around it! The peplum top and scallop shorts make the outfit a little less casual but not too dressy. The trendy sunglasses, bold bangles, statement necklace, and bright nail polish complete the look!

success & happiness

I gave another speech for class today (I feel like I write a lot about my class speeches on here, haha) about defining personal success. I cited this article and I definitely recommend reading it! It was very inspiring and has even helped guide me in my job search. Basically, the author simply asks,

How happy are you?

The author pretty much states that if you are happy, you are successful.

You may have to sacrifice some parts in life for others, but if you are happy, you are probably doing things right for yourself. It's a good thing to ask yourself if you're happy overall. For me, I'm pretty happy right now. I am so comfortable being at school, with great friends, doing fun things and learning a lot. I'm nervous for the upcoming change (graduation...) but have been reflecting on what I want out of the beginning of my post-college life, and how it will make me happy.

Anyways, like I said in my speech, you deserve happiness; you deserve success. And if you define success based on happiness, you'll be both. :)
I know everyone defines success differently. How do you define success? Do you agree with the article?

Have a happy night :)

a little etc.

A little etc.....

My outfit yesterday, I took to the selfies :P I was able to break out the navy chino shorts!

My skills in the kitchen don't extend too far past eggs, but this combination is yummy, healthy, and filling:
1 slice toasted 60-cal Dave's Killer Bread
2 organic eggs
1/5 (probably? I just a few slices) of avocado
A handful of spinach
Salt and pepper
And you have an open-faced egg sandwich!
